| macca | I think City need to strengthen the defence to consolidate their return to the Premiership. The player I would like to see purchased is Darren Kenton of Norwich City. He is by far and away the most consistent and versatile defender in Div One. Good in the air, very quick and strong in the tackle. As a city fan who lives in Norfolk I see and hear a lot about him. His contract is up at the end of the season, and NCFC will receive nothing. He has publicly stated that he will not sign another contract unless NCFC are promoted. I beleive that they would sell him at a reasonable fee (sell on clause, appearances etc) in January especially as they have cover defensivley and two very promising young defenders in the wings. I am old enough to remember our return to div One in the sixties where Mercer/Allison spent the first year consolidating and led us to championship the next. Whilst I do not believe we can win the premiership next year I believe consolidating ourselves as a "regular" premiership team is of paramount importance. This will act as a springboard to possible honours. Be patient! |
