I think Saints are a few players short due to injury. I sincerely hope we put out our strongest side (well of those regularly playing nowadays)
Panty (though I still think Hart is better, Panty still hasn't let us down - nor did Hart..... their issue is with lack of protection for the back four from Midfield and also an ever changing back four lineup)
Zabs Kompany DeMichelis Clichy
Nasri LOAF Fernandinho (and with these two in central midfield, the SCUM think they have problems!?!?!) Navas
Aguero Negredo
That ought to be enough to win it for us...... as long as we don't get over confident and as long as LOAF decides he wants to actually put a shift in for a change and start doing his job.

It wasn't, we did, he didn't.
Credit them, they did all they could, and their goal was spectacular with Kompany being turned inside out, twice, on one play.
Yet is anything other than a win acceptable?
Milner gave the ball away far too often, as well as many bad passes by others.
The better team today was unlucky not to get all three points and that wasn't us.
Best duo where? Oh! Negredo, Aguero!! |

Well, I've not seen any highlights yet as we don't always get as much live coverage over here so it's sad reading there Mike as it seems that the same problems are still ingrained into the team especially away from home.
Having said that, Chelski lost so we've gained a point on them and to be fair to Saints, they've only lost one game at home this season so this may not be such a poor result. I understand that we may have been poor as even the official site said we were "below par". Liverpool jump back above us and of course the gooners play tomorrow.
The way I see it is as per a previous post.... We have 11 more away games and I think we need to win 8 of those. The gooners are entering a period of tough fixtures so I believe.
More good news this weekend was the barcodes sticking another nail in United's coffin this season. At the moment, it's difficult to see who could break into the top four positions as they stand at the moment.... I'm still banking on us to finish in the top four and despite a setback today, Chelski have a strong enough squad and a good enough manager to ensure a top 4 finish. Liverpool and Arsenal are both flying so understandably, that leaves a lot of very worried United fans out there. I wonder how patient the board will be over at Old Trafford.

My announcers said that when Milner starts our record is poor and MP always starts him on the road for "stability" reasons. Huh? Tim you may be right, does Pellers get it? Not looking like it on the road. Milner beside YoYo left a clear path to our end that they used easily to gain our end easier than we got to theirs. I think with our first goal being so easy, so early on, that we lacked the sense of urgency and coasted thinking it would be a walk in the park.

Having now seen their goal, I have to say there is little we could have done to prevent it - a superb finish. However, I presume that if we had not sat back on easy street, then we could have tried to hit a second or, dare I say it, third goal? In the scheme of things, this may not be a terrible result and of course, the team can't play and hit 3+ goals every time.
If there is a lack of urgency, even only 15 games into the season, we need to show a bit more away from home. At home, we look to be doing very well but there's a big test coming up against the league leaders.
I used to be a big fan of Milner (prior to the last world cup, I even said that in that competition, he would come back with a "world class" tag on him - 5 years ago he looked like he would be something special. He's been reduced (for whatever reason) to role of "water carrier". I love his workrate but as a player he is very limited in a defensive role. I thought he might turn out to be an attacking midfielder similar to Lampard, being able to weigh in with a good share of goals. I confess I could not have been more wrong about the lad! However, I can't have a bad word to say about him given his willingness. He does have other positive aspects to his game and I like it when he plays directly (running at his opposite number with or without the ball). He's not let us down but then he's not one who can come on and change a game if things aren't going well either. I do think the days of when bringing on a "purely defensive" player are numbered. Look at what Pardew did yesterday... with United enjoying their best spell of the game, he bought on Ben Arfa (not known for his defensive work!) and although he was not involved in the goal, he caused all sorts of problems when Newcastle were in possession of the ball as he is always an outlet and can hang on to the ball, allowing others to rest and not have to work so hard when the team have the ball. A bit like Nasri for us - given Samir the ball and he can easily jink around a few players, lay off a couple of easy balls and bang, 30 seconds or a minute have gone by and most of your team have been allowed a bit of a rest.
Anyway, I'll maintain my own view that we are not good enough (i.e. not enough strength in depth) to NOT play our best team from the outset in every game. It's still a work in progress and the transfer window will determine whether our manager really is an Ostrich or not.

well it's not a question of whether you like him or not for whatever reasons, having seen the game he's a weak link, a bad fit on the day, like bringing a gallon of american moonshine to a french dinner party*, way too pedestrian and not up to class with the rest in spite of his efforts, which i do applaud.
*drunk french girls from moonshine would be good though, i do admit.
I'd say we are deeper than any other squad, and that's what hurts us, we have a different side all the time, teams like southhampton, everton, liverpool, and even newcastle, West brom, and even arsenal to some extent are playing their best team all the time and cohesively grinding out success this year with their systems. my point is along with some good sides some lesser perceived teams are also having very good success with very little depth.
our team is plenty good enough, we are not nearly disciplined enough, proof is in the goals scored, we have way more than enough goals scored to be top of the table, it's the laziness that you eluded to earlier Tim coupled with Pellers lack of understanding of the Premiership game on the road that have cost us, imo.

Ode to lazy bones.
Strong as a lion, one of the best, not cut from the same cloth, better than the rest. A waste we have to watch, the man with the most, made from ivory, coast.
