Posted - 05/11/2014 : 20:29:24 They were crap in front of their non home crowd (so UEFA were happy to let them have supporters) and we were worse.... got away with a draw. At present, due to the defective tactics deployed by The Ostrich (and he's really starting to look like one, wouldn't you agree?) we are 2-1 down with half time approaching fast.
Every time this average side get the ball, they are cutting through our (admittedly non-existent) midfield. Their defence is all at sea and they would struggle, seriously struggle, in the premiership. So, why can't we put them to bed, even with a stupid 4-4-2 formation which was rubbish 30 years ago and is still rubbish today... we should be destroying them but we're going to lose 3-1 or 4-1 at this rate. Garbage.

Posted - 12/11/2014 : 08:13:56 Hey Eddie, agreed. We have some definite soul searching to do and as Tim has eluded to earlier somewhere on here it seems some players don't seem to want it very badly while Zabs and Aguero are working overtime. Somethings got to give.
Our defense has gotten too porous and lackadaisical and despite our talent we can't do much going forward anymore. I read after the CSKA Moscow game that one of their defenders said we are too predictable. Seems logical as it all looks very familiar the last long while.

Posted - 08/11/2014 : 17:14:03 At the end of the day, we can blame disrespectful players (and I agree Mike, that's a booking and v.poor sportsmanship for sure... I was puzzled why he wasn't booked) and we can blame an awful referee (and he WAS pretty awful) but at the end of the day, the biggest portion of blame lies with the players. Mike, you're spot on with Clichy. I'd be tempted to blood a youth player at left back whilst waiting for Kolarov to return from injury. Cliche was dreadful, sunday league stuff. In part, I blame the tactics. He did change them at half time but only gave it about 10 minutes. We're about to kick off against QPR now with my suggestion of Fernando and Fernandinho in midfield..... I am not a big fan of defensive tactics myself but we're getting swamped in midfield and Fernandinho does have a shot on him so that's not a bad thing.... It will be interesting to see what happens but the team is getting towards that "mature" stage (many players 28 and over) and there's no one coming off the conveyor belt. With FFP being held over us, the good times may already have reached a crescendo. I don't think we're there yet but some mid to long term planning needs to be implemented and soon. And the players wearing the shirt at the moment really do need to step up.

Posted - 08/11/2014 : 13:39:26 Mike, I agree, I just don't want the team distracted from focusing on their own, fairly obvious, failings. Maybe we just can't do two seasons in a row. Either way, if things don't improve, MP will be shipped out, we've seen it before.
Saying that, the penalty in Moscow never was, their player ran into Mangala and fell over, shamefully the ref saw a penalty...unlike Oliver in the Derby. |

Posted - 08/11/2014 : 09:58:58 What's your point? lol, We've been less than stellar all season to date. We are not good. In my eyes though I think we have the right to complain about all the other crap. Some of it seems crookeder than an Irishman's path home from the boozer. |

Posted - 05/11/2014 : 21:41:38 This Greek ref in only his 2nd ever CL game getting a high profile game is quite strange. Which goes hand in hand with some very strange calls. Nice for him to get the work tho, cus money is really tight in Greece these days.
Best duo where? Oh! Negredo, Aguero!! |

Posted - 05/11/2014 : 21:22:39 Ref is a joke giving yellow to wrong player when the right one would have had a second yellow and off, for F sakes, how do you get that wrong unless that is your m. o. |

Posted - 05/11/2014 : 21:10:30 Tim I was just going to start this thread under the title, "Move along people, nothing to see here"
For Clichy, it's no cliche but the game has passed him by, slow, lost, nothing going forward, and defensively, which is his very overpaid job, he is becoming terrible. Navas and Milner are only good at pace and then cross it in, once they stop and try to pass or dribble their way through they give it away every time.
I can take a joke as well as most, but... The baby pacifier thing was cute but should have been a yellow for using a prop. An obvious premeditated attempt to disrespect an opposing side. Is that what UEFA's "Respect" campaign is all about? What he is saying is F U City for being babies for crying about my phantom penalty last game and F U UEFA I respect nobody, and nothing is said? wow. In N.A. sports he would have been penalized or ejected from the match for making a travesty of the game. In realty, and in that context, could that stunt be seen as abusive and distasteful as any racism claim? I'm not sure but some might.
1/2 hour to go in the game and the CL season methinks if something doesn't change.
